    The Stamp Act of 1765 was the first internal tax levied directly on American colonists by the British government. The act, which imposed a tax on all paper documents in the colonies, came at a time when the British Empire was deep in dept from the Seven Years' War and lookinf to its north American colonies as a revenue source.
  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The French and Indian War lasted from 1756-1763, forming a chapter in the imperial struggle between Britain and France called the Secong Hundred Years' War. This affected the American Revolution because the treaty strengthened the American colonies significantly by removing their European rivals to the morth and south and opening the Mississippi Vally to westward expansion.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    The Proclamation of 1763, as it is known, acknowledged that Indians owned the lands on which they were then residing and white settlers in the area were to be removed. This affected the American Revolution because the proclamation was introduced as a temporary measure, its economic benefits for Britain prompted ministers to keep it until the eve of the Revolution.
