This war lasted 7 years. It was fought for control over land in America. Each side of the war was supported by Indian tribes. -
The proclamation of 1763
This proclamation was a British boundary in the appellation mountains. It prohibited Anglo American colonists from settling on the lands acquired by the French. -
The Sugar Act
British colonists try to end the smuggling of sugar and molasses from the French. The tax rate also went down on molasses after doing this. -
Stamp Act of 1766
The stamp act was made to help replenish their expenses after the 7 year war. Part of this act was made to have peace with the Native Americans. -
The Boston Massacre
Tension grew in Boston and a patriot mob attacked a British loyalist who killed a boy. This lead to a street fight where many colonists were killed. -
Tea act
The Tea act granted a company the right to directly ship their tea to the colonies instead of having to stop in England. A lot of people hated this because it brought up taxes. -
Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party was a political protest. Colonists that were frustrated about the taxes on tea dumped 342 boxes off the company's ship. -
Intolerable Acts
The Intolerable Acts were punitive laws passed by the British. These laws were made to punish the people that participated in the Boston Tea Party. -
1st Continental Congress
The 1st Continental Congress got colonies to boycott British goods. This also was made to support Boston with the British. -
Townshend act of 1767
These were a series of measures passed by British parliament. It taxed goods imported to the American colonies. Some Americans called it an abuse of power.
