  • Bacons rebellion

    Bacon's Rebellion was triggered when a grab for Native American lands was denied. Bacon's Rebellion was an armed rebellion by Virginia settlers. Led to the growth of the slave trade, as they sought a more reliable, controllable, permanent labor source than indentured servants
  • Great Awakening

    The movement came at a time when the idea of secular rationalism was being emphasized, and passion for religion had grown stale. A religious revival that impacted the English colonies in America. Long term effects of the Great Awakening were the decline of Quakers, Anglicans, and Congregationalists as the Presbyterians and Baptists increased.
  • French and Indian War

    The French and Indian War began over the specific issue of whether the upper Ohio River valley was a part of the British Empire. British, French, and Indians fought in war for 7 years. began in 1754 and ended with the Treaty of Paris in 1763. The war provided Great Britain enormous territorial gains in North America, but disputes over subsequent frontier policy and paying the war's expenses led to colonial discontent, and ultimately to the American Revolution.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Was made because it was an agreement between France and Britain. In the terms of the treaty, France gave up all its territories in mainland North America, effectively ending any foreign military threat to the British colonies there.
  • Proclamation Line of 1763

    The Proclamation Line of 1763 was a British-produced boundary marked in the Appalachian Mountains at the Eastern Continental Divide. Decreed on October 7, 1763, the Proclamation Line prohibited Anglo-American colonists from settling on lands acquired from the French following the French and Indian War.

    Happened as a result of “taxation without representation”, The Boston Tea Party was a political and mercantile protest by the Sons of Liberty in Boston, Massachusetts. the British shut down Boston Harbor until all of the 340 chests of British East India Company tea were paid for.

    The First Continental Congress was a meeting of delegates from 12 of the 13 British colonies that became the United States
