  • The Founding of the Colonies

    Sir Walter Raleigh founded the 13 colonies together in 1607. This was to gain religious independence from Britain.
  • The Sugar, Quartering, Currency, and Stamp acts

    These acts were created to get money from the British people since they lost so much money from the revolutionary war. The acts were for getting extra taxes from the people. The quartering act was created to give shelter and meals to soldiers in the war. It would give them access to the people's homes.
  • French and Indian War

    The French and Indian war was fought by the French and Huron, against the British and Iroquoian over property of land. The war was in Europe during 1754-1763.
  • “No Taxation Without Representation”

    This was an anti-British slogan used by American colonists in 1761. This was used because the colonists were being taxed by the British, but having no say, or representation, for the activation of the laws.
  • Sons of liberty

    The Sons of Liberty are a secret organization that protect the rights of the people in the 13 original colonies in 1765.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston tea party was a protest against British taxes on tea. The Sons of Liberty snuck onto a ship, dressed as Mohawk Indians. The ship was loaded with tea. They threw the thousands of pounds (weight and money) of tea into the ocean. This was a good protest, BUT THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!! DELICIOUS TEA!!!! ALL GONE AND NOT IN MY TUMMY!!!!! WHYYYYYYY
  • The Intolerable Acts

    The Intolerable acts were created by the British Government in response to the Boston Tea Party. These were extremely harsh laws against Rebels and Protesters, activated in 1774.
  • Boston Blockade

    The Boston Blockade was created by the British parliament in 1774, as an act to prevent the importing and exporting of goods through the Boston Port.
  • The First Continental Congress

    The first Continental Congress was a group of delegates from each of the 13 colonies. They came together in Philadelphia to discuss the British taxing. The purpose of the meeting was to rebel against British rule and taxing.
  • Lexington and Concord

    This was the first revolutionary war from the colonies against the British. This took place in Massachusetts, 1775, to rebel against British rule.
  • Thomas Paine’s “Common Sense”

    This was a book written by Thomas Paine in 1776, that advocated independence from Britain.
  • "Paul Revere's Ride"

    This was a poem written by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, to commemorate Paul Revere's actions. This was published 1861, Britain, to make known all the heroic acts he did.
