Road to Revolution

  • Proclamation Line

In 1763, after the end of the French and Indian War, King Goerge III issued the Proclamation of 1763. The colonist were to not cross the Appalachian Mountains. They acted as a boundary so that the colonist could not expand westward, and the settlement of the Ohio River. The colonist were upset because the land they had just faught on was not to be used by them.
  • Declaratory Act

This act was an act of Parliament of Great Britain. It repealed the Stamp Act due to the boycotts. It stated the the Parliament in Britain was the same for America, and pretty much any laws America made meant nothing. The colonists felt their rights being taken away and didn't want to be told to do something by someone thousands of miles away. Especially after Britain had allowed them to make their own rules forever. The sudden changed outraged most people.
  • Boston Massacre

The Boston Massacre was the killing of five colonist by Britain forces. For the colonists, this was like losing a large amount of men. They were very upset because first, troops were surrounding the town of Boston, and now they were killing people. They were also outraged because the soldiers were to be tried by Britain judges. This is when you really start to see violence beteween America and Britain.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
The Tea Act made a tax on all tea and allowed for a monopoly. Not only did the colonist have to pay tax on tea, but they couldn't even sell their own tea. It would of had to be smuggled. This act really sparked the idea of a revolution in Boston. They were absolutely pissed because this was many jobs and a lot of money being taken away.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party was an act done by the Massachusetts colonist that really ticked off the British. The colonist took millions dollars worth of tea and dumped it into the Boston Harbor dressed as Indians. The British did not appreciate this because this was such a loss of money of the British economy. This is when Britain starts to think of Boston as the bad kids and starts to build a lot of hate for them. This is also when a rebel for Massachusetts starts to become a real idea.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
The Intolerable Acts were what seperated Mass from everyone else. This was done by the King to try to settle things down with in the colonies and kind of put Boston on in a timeout. They shut down the Boston port, they didn't allow them to have their own government and others. Mass was not happy with this at all and thought they were being treaty cruely. I'd say this is what ignites the colony to rebel.
  • Declaration of Indepedence

The Declaration of Independence written by Thomas Jefferson and many of Americans other finest. It stated that the colonies were no longer part of the Great Britain Empire. This was practically the document that stated war. The Britains think these people are crazy and send troops over to battle the rebellion.
