The Royal Proclamation
The Royal Proclamation impacted all thirteen colonies by restricting expansion to the west. In response to a Native American rebellion, King George III deemed all lands west of the Appalachian Divide off-limits to colonial settlers. The limitations protected both the Natives and Whites from one another. -
The Sugar Act
The Sugar act put tax on imported wines, coffee, textiles and indigo. The act reduced the rate of tax on molasses from 6 pence to 3. The act was designed to raise revenue for the 13 colonies -
The Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was passed by Parliament to help pay for british soldiers stations in the colonies during the French and Indian War. The act required the colonists to pay a tax on every piece of printed paper they used. -
British Troops Arrive in Boston
Two regiments of British troops arrive to put an end to the fresh rebellion. -
The Boston massacre
Crowds of civilians and traders pelted British Soldiers with rocks and snowballs. This resulted in British soldiers firing at the civilians and killing a handful of them. -
The Boston Tea Party
Samuel adams and the sons of liberty threw over 300 crates of British tea into the harbor. -
Intolerable Acts (Coercive Acts)
These acts forbade public meetings in Massachusetts unless sanctioned by the oral government. This also closed Boston harbor until payment for the destroyed tea was made. -
Battles of Lexington and Concord
The british and patriots battle at the start of the revolution. These events began with "the shot heard around the world". -
The declaration of Independence
The declaration was adopted 2 days after Congress declared independence from Great Britain. -
Valley Forge
The American army claims a major victory at Saratoga, following this they seek camp during winter at Valley Forge. Suffering through hardship George Washington issues a call for help.
