Second Continental Congress
The Second Continental Congress was a governing body for the colonist to figure out a way to deal with the military threat of the British. Congress appointed George Washington to be supreme commander of a rising continental army. -
Olive Branch Petition
The Olive Branch Petition was the colonist' last effort to prevent war with Great Britain. The petition stated the colonist' allegiance to the king, while wishing that parliament had nothing to do with the colonies. This was asked as the colonist felt to be unappreciated for their efforts in the war, only being taxed and never thanked.
