Treaty of Paris
The Treaty of Paris was negotiated between the United States and Great Britain, ending the Revolutionary War and bringing independence to America. John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Jon Jay, and Henry Laurens were chose to negotiate the treaty. -
Proclamation Act
King George III issued the Proclamation hoping to make peace with the Native American's who had recently sided against him. The Proclamation stated that colonial settlement west of the Appalachian Mountains was not allowed. -
The Sugar Act
The Sugar Act lowered taxes on molasses in order to persuade importers to buy from British colonials instead of bringing it from the French and Spanish colonies. The Act also increased and enforced the laws of smuggling. -
The Stamp Act
Taxation without representation, forcing colonists to buy a British stamp for every official document. This was a major cause of the Revolutionary War. -
The Quartering Act
Two acts of British Parliament to provide the British soldiers with any needed supplies or housing and providing the soldiers with food in the area. -

Document declaring that taxes imposed of British colonists without their consent were not constitutional. -

A series of British acts for British American colonies in North America named after Charles Townshend who created the program. -

British soldiers opened fire on a group of American colonists, killing five men while under attack by a mob. -
Committee of Correspondence
Rallied patriots against the British and established political union among the Thirteen Colonies. -
Tea Act
An Act of the Parliament to reduce massive amounts of tea and raise the revenue from the colonies. -
Boston Tea Party
A political protest by the Sons of Liberty showing the Parliament of they felt about the Tea Act where over 340 chests of tea were dumped into the Boston Harbor. -
Intolerable Acts
Very harsh laws passed by the British Parliament meaning to punish the American colonists for the Boston Tea Party. -
1st Continental Congress
A meeting of delegates from 12 of the 13 colonies who met from September to October early in the American Revolution. -

Declaratory Act
Along with the Stamp Act Repeal, the Declaratory stated that the British Parliament's taxing authority was the same in America as in Great Britain. -
Stamp Act Repealed
After five months of protest and an appeal by Benjamin Franklin, the Parliament repealed the Stamp Act. -
Declaration of Independence
