The navigation act was enacted in 1651.The navigation act meant that aimed primarily at the Dutch, required all trade between England and the colonies to be carried in English or colonial vessels, resulting in the Anglo-Dutch War. The sugar act
The sugar act was enacted in 1764.It meant that however much sugar they had to pay a certain amount extra for it.This act was made to replaces the molasses act.The colonist reacted with anger and stood their ground by boycotting and other things until it was removed.The government got rid of the act and imposed a new one. -
The currency act
The currency act was enacted in September 1,1764.The currency act was meant to control the printing and use of colonial paper money and banned the use of paper money as legal tender in all colonies.The colonist suffered a constant shortage of currency and were enraged.The government responded by leaving the act there and making them follow it. -
The stamp act
The stamp act was enacted in march,22.1765.The stamp act required colonist to pay a tax for every piece of paper that they bought or used for example legal documents,licenses,newspapers,and even gaming cards.This made the colonist react by doing things such as boycotts,riots and even attack the tax collectors.The government repealed the act in 1766 and added the declaratory act which told them they had power to tax people when they want to. -
The declaratory act
The declaratory act was enacted on march 18 1766.The declaratory act affirmed the British parliament's power to legislate the colonies.The colonists were enraged because they did not get any representation in the parliament.The government reacted by feeling empowered because they were assertive and showed the colonist that they still had the power to control them.
