    They would sell indulgences promising people to not go to purgatory or hell.
    John Wycliffe questioned the authority of the pope (1330-1384)
    Desiderius Erasmus and Jan Hus - Criticized the vast wealth of the Church and attacked them for the corruption in the church.

    Daily life

    Townspeople- 7-13% of the population, there are 4 divisions. Patricitians, burghers, workers, and the unemployed.
    Peasants- 85-90% of the population. Worked farm land for very poor wages and more peasants became legally free after the decline of the manorial system in the late 1400s.
    The men were always dominant and women had no say with any decisions the male has to make.

    Frescos- Credited as the first masterpieces of the early renaissance.
    Donatello- Made a realistic statue of Saint George
    Filippo Brunelleschi- Discovered how to make a dome structure
    Leonardo- Dissected bodies to understand how the body works and set a new style of beauty. (1490-1520)
    Raphael- Admired for his numerous madonnas (depictions of the virgin mary)(1490-1520)
    Michelangelo- Dabbled in painting, sculpting, and architecture.

    Martin luther talked about how the church was lying about the indulgences
    He told them it wasn’t right so he fought for what he believed in

    He fought against the church because he believed that their was 95 problems wrong with the things the church did.

    Trade enabled a mixture of goods to travel from place to place and influenced other people that were living during the renaissance time.
    Nobility, there was only 2-3% of the population that was noble they had to be fearless warriors.
