Baron de Montesquieu was thinker from the age of reason who came up with the idea that no one man should rule a country, instead he believed the power should be separated between three branches of government. Thomas Jefferson used John Lockes ideas to help form the Declaration of Independence using his key ideas of Life, Liberty and property as one of the main points of the Declaration of Independence. The idea of the government split into 3 parts and the general will of the people all helped form America.
