    Literary Works of the Renaissance Event 1; The publishing of "The Canterbury Tales"
    In the year of 1392, the 29 stories known as "The Canterbury Tales" had been published. These stories were all written by the pilgrims that had taken a journey to the tomb of St. Thomas Beckett. St. Thomas Beckett had been murdered after the argument with King Henry II.

    Literary Works of the Renaissance Event 2; The publishing of "The Book of the City of Ladies"
    This book was written for the purpose to explain that if women were to have the same opportunities as other men do then they would also be just as successful as the men were. During the Renaissance women were not allowed to attend schools, they were required to stay home and learn to take care of the home and the children and how to provide for her husband.

    A mother's job in the renaissance was to surpervise the home and children. She would clean, cook, and take care of the children. SJe was not allowed to do any of the man's work, if the father wasn't aroumd the eldest son would be in charge.

    Dowries were marriage bonds. They were when the bride's family would give money to the groom's family, like a down payment. They would pay them so that they could provide for their daughter because they would now be taking care of her.

    Relics were another way for the church to make money. People who come and pay money to pay their respects to these holy artifacts that the Catholic church has preserved. The money would all go towards the church and whatever the pope had in mind to spend it on.

    Patrons of Arts Event 2: Lorenzo de Pavia wrote to Isabella D'este

    On this day Lorenzo de Pavia wrote to Isabella D'este and had told her that Leonardo had just shown him the drawing that had won her opinion on and in this letter he stated at how beautiful she had been. Isabella D'este had been a patron for Leonardo. For him to win her over he went up against Giovanni Bellini at drawing a portrait of her. Her choice had begun to fall to Leonardo.

    IN the year of 1503, Leonardo da Vinci finished his painting of Mona Lisa. During the Renaissance, women were seen as perfect objects to paint. Some artist would be hired to paint a higher respected woman and take the painting to her new possible husband. Mona Lisa was painted on a wood panel and with oil paints.

    Patrons of Arts Event 1:Michelangelo started creating Pope Julius II's tomb

    Starting in 1505 Pope Julius II assigned Michelangelo to create a tomb for himself. The tomb had been designed to be three layers and would include 40 different statues among it. After 40 years it was still unfinished. Pope Julius had been known as a great patron and had been one of two of Michelangelo.

    In the year 1503 Leonardo da Vinci had started on his painting of Mona Lisa. This particular painting had taken Leonardo 4 years to complete. This painting was painted on wood with oil paints and he had painted something extremely small and hidden in the portraits right eye, his initials.

    On this day in 1517, Pope Leo X Had decided that anyone who made donations to the church would receive an indulgence. An indulgence was simply a piece of paper but had claimed to be a promise to heaven and the skipping of purgatory. Many people purchased the indulgences thinking that they were wonderful things.

    He had created and nailed hid 95 theses to the door of the church. The 95 theses were essentially 95 different problems or wrongdoings of the church. These 95 theses had created a big problem for the Catholic Church. Many people had made several copies of it and spread them throughout many towns or villages.

    Martin Luther was asked to recant 41 of his theses. He had chosen not to so in January 1521 he was excommunicated from the church. Being excommunicated from the church means that you are no longer allowed to teach or to perform any sort of church masses.

    The heliocentric solar system was the idea that all the planets had not orbited around the earth rather they orbited around the sun. The originator of this new and crazy, at the time, the idea was Nicholas Copernicus. During this time, everyone had believed that the Earth was the center and that every other planet had orbited around the Earth. Although he made this discovery in 1543 it was not introduced to the public until a later date,

    In the year 1597, William Shakespeare published Romeo and Juliet. Romeo and Juliet is based in Verona Italy. This story was about two star-crossed lovers who were forbidden to be with each other. In showing there love they came up with a plan, but unfortunately, the plan went bad and they both ended up dying because they had a mix up with getting to know information.

    The scientific method is the study of the process making a new hypothesis and testing it out. This process had been "discovered by" or rather created by Galileo.This was created sometime in the early 1600s. Although Galileo had created this idea he is not given full credit for it. He had started this idea and Francis Bacon was the one who actually finished and finalized the idea of the Scientific Method.
