The Printing Press is Born
In 1450, Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press. The printing press brought more advancements to the people. People were able to spread literature easier and also cheaper. This process encouraged people to become literate as well. -

Gutenberg Bible
The Gutenberg bible was the first bible that could be mass printed due to the printing press's birth in 1450. This brought out the first world's best-seller. People spread their faith and spread their beliefs more. This also brought more people who learned how to read. -

Lorenzo de Medici
Lorenzo de Medici became the head of the city-state of Florence. Lorenzo de Medici believed in the arts strongly. He was one of the patrons of art and brought more art to the people, increasing the ideas of the Renaissance. People became more creative and art became more important. -

Humanism
Humanists were a large part of the renaissance. Humanism was the belief that all humans are beautiful and do not have the properties of being wicked. This also brought the love for art and the human body being expressed as art. Luther later was inspired by this belief in his own beliefs that went against the Church. -

Art and The Great Artists
During the renaissance, there were many great artists who came about. They are world-famous even today. A few are Michelangelo, Donatello, and DaVinci. These great artists brought new respect for art as well as new paintings in the church. This also brought further belief in the humanistic approach. -

Christopher Columbus Finds the Americas
In 1492, Christopher Columbus "found" the Americas. He found the people who lived in the Americas and brought things to them and things back to his lands. This brought the migration of items between the two countries. -

Martin Luther Thought Differently
Martin Luther was apart of the Church, but he did not agree with everything they did. He believed that money did not forgive people of their sins, but the everlasting love of God did. This belief was inspired by the humanistic beliefs he grew up around. Because of his beliefs, he wanted a change in the Church. This wound up in him gaining a following of people who also wanted a change until Lutheranism was born. -

New Church Divisions
Due to Martin Luther's splitting from the pope, other people also split and left the Church. This resulted in the Protestant Church group as well as the Lutherans. Renaissance and individual's ideas at this time were extremely important.
