    The Lutheran Church

    The Lutheran Church was established during the Reformation in Germany under the influence of Martin Luther (1483–1546). The first Lutheran Congregation in Sydney was formed in 1866.It was the year 1517 when the German monk Martin Luther pinned his 95 Theses to the door of his Catholic church, denouncing the Catholic sale of indulgences — pardons for sins — and questioning papal authority. That led to his excommunication and the start of the Protestant Reformation.

    The Church of England was formed in 1534, England ,United Kingdom.
    Henry VIII started the process of creating the Church of England after his split from the Roman Catholic Church (1534).When Pope Clement VII refused to approve the annulment of Henry's marriage to Catherine of Aragon, the English Parliament, at Henry's insistence, passed a series of acts that separated the English church from the Roman hierarchy and in 1534 made the English monarch the head of the English church.
  • Baptist church

    The First Baptist Church in America was established at Providence (in present-day Rhode Island) in 1638 by Roger Williams shortly after his banishment from the Massachusetts Bay Colony.The Baptists separated from the Church of England because they believed church membership should be voluntary and that only believers should be baptized. They rejected the parish structure of the Church of England where people were "born" into the church and baptized as infants.
  • Methodist Church

    John Wesley
    On February 28, 1784, John Wesley charters the first Methodist Church in the United States.
    By 1787, Wesley was required to register his preachers as non-Anglicans. He remained an Anglican to his death. Wesley saw great opportunities for preaching the gospel outside of England.Because Wesley was not a bishop, his ordination of Coke and the others was not recognised and, consequently, this marked American Methodism's separation from the Anglican Church.
  • Presbyterian Church

    The Presbyterian Church established itself in the Cleveland area in 1807, among the earliest Protestant denominations, and developed rapidly. Presbyterianism originated in the 16th-century Protestant Reformation and the teachings of John Calvin of Switzerland and John Knox of Scotland.Like other Protestant denominations, the Presbyterians were opposed to the hierarchy and religious teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
  • The Uniting Church

    The Uniting Church in Australia (UCA) was formed on June 22, 1977, as a union of three churches: the Congregational Union of Australia, the Methodist Church of Australasia and the Presbyterian Church of Australia.This year a uniquely Australian church celebrated its 30th year. The Uniting Church of Australia was formed in the 1970s in a spirit of ecumenical unity and strong social justice ideals.
  • Hillsong Church

    Founded in August 1983 by New Zealand natives Brian and Bobbie Houston, Hillsong Church was first known as Hills Christian Life Centre. At its inception, the congregation comprised just 45 members, but grew to 900 within four years.
