  • Shay's Rebellion

    Shay's rebellion was a series of protests from 1786 to 1787 held by the farmers to go against the taxation and debt in America. The rebellion tried many times to shut down the government and make them change it. During the rebellions many people were wounded or put in jail for trying to rebel.
  • Contitutional Convention

    The constitutional convention was the first meeting where they sat down to discuss the articles of confederation. Every state had delegates attend, excluding Rhode Island. They met at Independence Hall in Philadelphia, PA, and elected Goerge Washington president. The Constitution Brought many issues, and much discussion, but was officially signed at a later date.
  • The Great Compromise

    The Great Compromise was an agreement about the representation in the House of Representitives and the Senate. Larger states wanted more representation because they believed they contributed more the the government, but small states wanted every state to be represented equally. The Great Compromise stated that all states get represented equally in the senate for all matters, except those that dealt with money.
  • Radification by Deleware

    Deleware was the first state to ratify, electing ten members from each county, it was a unanimous vote among the federalists. Deleware voters elected Bedford and Bassett to ratify the constitution, but they were later over-shadowed by two other delegates, Goerge Read, and John Dickinson. The Constitution was passed in Delewarre
  • Ratification by Pennsylvania

    Pennsylvania was divided unevenly between people who disliked and liked the idea of the constitution. James Wilson set the tone for Pennsylvania and the rest of the country. The Pennsylvania convention started on Novmeber 21, 1787 and ended December 12, 1787. The constitution passed in the state of Pennsylvania, 46 to 23.
  • Radification by New Hampshire

    The New Hampshire convention met on February 13th to discover that less than fifty of the one-hundred and eight people to attend wanted to actually pass the radification. New Hampshires plan was to avoid first radification, and come back another day. It was ratified 56-51, and they planned to rehold another meating in June, after moving the site to concord.
  • Constitution was Adopted

    The Constitution needed 75% of the states to agree with it to be passed. The ninth state to ratify the constitution was New Hampshire. They finished ratifiying it on June 21, 1788. That date was the day the Constitution was adopted.
  • Inauguration of Wahington

    The inauguration of Washington was when he was elceted into office. They held a meeting in New York to vote for the President. George Washington won unanimously with 69 votes. George Washington officially went into office on April 30, 1789
  • Ratification by Rhode Island

    Rhode Island refused eleven time to the ratifying convention. Congree then sent Rhode Island a message that read "join or die'. Rhode Island finally decided to hold their meeting on May 26, 1790 and on May 29, 1790 the constitution was passed by a vote of 32 to 34.
  • Bill of Rights

    After much debate, and controversery, 75% of the state legislaters voted to ratify the Bill of Rghts, and they were officially confirmed. The Bill of rights were the first ten ammendments that allowed the states to create some of their own laws. The reason for doing this was to get all of the states to vote for the constitution. The states would not agree unless they each had a say in it. In doing so, they approved the Bill of Rights.
