Constitutional Convention (First Meeting)
Four years after the United States won its independence from England, 55 state delegates convene in Philadelphia to compose a new U.S. constitution. -
Great Compromise
in Februrary 1788 a compromise was reached under which massachusetts and other states would agree to ratify the documents with the assurance that amendments would be immediately proposed. -
Constitution Adopted
The Constitution of the United States of America was signed by 38 of the 41 delegates present at the conclusion of the convention. As dictated by Article VII, the document would not become binding until it was ratified by nine of the 13 states. -
Ratification by DE
Deleware was the first state to ratify the Constition. Thirty delegates showed up to ratify the Confederation and everyone agreed. It was 30-0. All the 30 people were federalists. It passed 56-51 on febuary 24th. -
Ratification by PA
The division was present in very 69 members unicameral pennsylvania legislaters that called for the ratifying convention. So it is no suprise that going into the pennsylvania ratification, Tere was 46- 23 divide amoung the elected deligates. -
Radification by NH
They had two radifying convention taking place in the North East. of the 108 delegates in attandence, fewer than 50 were in favor of adoption. It passed 56-51 on Febuary 24th. -
Bill of Rights (Officially Approved)
The first Congress of the United States adopted 12 amendments to the U.S. Constitution--the Bill of Rights--and sent them to the states for ratification. Ten of these amendments were ratified in 1791. -
Rtification by RI
Between Febuary 1788 and January 1790, the Assembly refused 11 times to call a ritify convention. at the end of the second sesion of the Frst Congress, the Senit sent Rode Island a message which said join or die. iIt finally ratified 34-32 on May 29 1790. -
Inauguration of Washington
the inaguration marked the conmesment of the 4 year term of george washington as president.
