ColecoVision
My favorite game was Smurfs, which was ridiculously hard to beat. My mom tried playing, couldn't cross the first screen, and is still afraid of playing video games to this day. -
Nintendo Entertainment System
Definitely a step up from the ColecoVision, minus having to blow air into the games and slam the console around sometimes to get it to work. Many a wonderful hour was spent playing Super Mario, Duck Tales, Duck Hunt, and other classics. -
Talkboy
Thanks to "Home Alone 2," this was pretty much the coolest toy ever. I spent hours recording pointless dialogue and playing it back again, feeling like some covert spy. -
Giga Pet
These were the most demanding toys of all time. If you didn't feed them, they would die very quickly, but if you brought them to school they would beep in class and get you in trouble. I had a beloved monkey and a dog. -
Nintendo 64
One of my favorite video consoles of all time, thanks to the best game ever: The Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time. Mario Kart was pretty good too, and we had cool, see through controllers that were orange and blue. I grew up with 3 brothers, so video games were a big deal... -
Boombox
It was the coolest thing ever to listen to music in my room. Mine was plastered with stickers of tye-dye yin yang symbols and other middle school fancies, and blasted "NOW" cd number 1. How the times change... -
Walkman
The Walkman rocked my world. I could finally listen to my CD's on the go! I packed it on every vacation I went on, and used any other excuse to take it out of the house. One of mine even had a super classy clip to go on your belt. -
Cell Phone
Finally got a phone after high school, and realized why my friends liked them so much. It made life a lot more convenient, but it took me a ridiculously long amount of time to learn how to text people. -
MP3 Player
Suddently the Walkman seemed awfully large with this little guy in the picture. IPods intimidated me, so I got a smaller brand name, and still use this MP3 player to listen to music while I jog. It was quite handy after all those years toting my CDs around. -
Laptop
The same laptop I own today, even though my brother teases me for it being outdated. It weighs a ton, but was my refuge in my early years of college. No more hunting for a computer in the campus lab!
