Henry VIII changed the course of his reign to marry Anne Boleyn, hoping to have a son. Instead, Elizabeth was born in Greenwich Palace. The fact that her parents were hoping for a son and didn't get one makes me believe that they treated Elizabeth differently than they would if they had a son. -

Mother's Death
After conceiving a stillborn son, Henry VIII started to grow tired of Anne. She was beheaded on the Tower Green before Elizabeth was even three years old. This was an imperative event in Elizabeth's life because her father sent her away because she reminded him of Anne.
