proclamation of 1763
the proclamation of 1763 was mainly intend to conciliate the Indians. it did this by checking the encroachment of settlers on their land. this stated that no colonial settlement west of the APPS mountains. the native american Indians did not like this it all. -
sugar act
the sugar act was a law passed by the British parliament in 1764. this act put taxes on foreign made molasses. they did this because they thought it would get the colonist to stop smuggling. but this didn't really do anything because the colonist were still smuggling molasses into the colonies. -
stamp act
the stamp act was something that was required by the government to be able to purchase special stamped paper for a legal document,licences, and newspaper and such. the colonist did not like it so much to the point where the sons of liberty were created. the sons of liberty harnessed custom workers, stamp agents, and even royal Governor. -
repeal of stamp act
the repeal of the stamp act was a crazy point in time and i would say kind of a big deal. after months of protest went by and also an appeal by Benjamin Franklin the parliament decided to repeal the stamp act sometime in march in 1766. but on the same day as this there was something else that was passed that day, and that was the Declaratory acts.the colonist felt good when the stamp act got repealed. -
boston massacre
the Boston massacre was basically just like a big riot in Boston. the colonist of Boston were fighting against British troops while they were quartered in the city. there were five colonist killed the colonist were not happy at all with how they were being treated. -
Boston tea party
the Boston tea party was by far a very interesting thing to watch. basically colonist disguised themselves as native Indians and ran on a ship and dumped all the teat in the harbor. they did all of this as a protest against the British taxes on tea. the total cost of product in the harbor was 18,000 $, 343 chests. this resulted the government to close down the port of Boston and no more town meetings. the colonist were happy that they were able to get on hand over the man by protesting -
intolerable acts
the intolerable acts, which we can also call the coercive acts. these acts were a series of British measures that were passed in 1744. this was designed to punish Massachusetts colonist for what took place during the Boston tea party. the colonist were not happy at this time because now they are on the end of the stick this time. 12 out of 13 colonies sent delegates in response to this. -
2 continental congress / declaration of independence
the 2 continental congress was something that ruled colonies during war. it also moved incrementally towards independence. the declaration of independence was writing by Thomas Jefferson and said that everybody had natural rights. and those rights were ( life, liberty and pursuit of halfpennies.) -
Lexington and concord
during the Lexington concord general Gage sent troops to concord to seizes all of the illegal weapons and try to stop the revolution. while all of this was going on Paul revere went around and got the word out that the redcoats were marching on concord. this was also where we hear the famous saying " the shot heard around the world ''. -
battle of saratoga
the battle of saratoga was very important because his surrendered to the Americans which marked a turning point. this was the turning point of the revolutionary war. in October somewhere around the 17th 5895 British and hessian troops gave up their arms. -
valley forge
valley forge is in eastern Pennsylvania and here it served as bases for the american army during the winter. as this time George Washington was commanding the army. they had been forced to leave due to the cold weather and lack of supplies. -
battle of Yorktown
Yorktown marked a lot of key moments. one being that is was the last battle of the revolutionary war. this war was fought during 1781 along the seacoast of Virginia. general lord Cornwallis surrendered to George Washington. the american colonist were very happy unlike the other colonist for general Cornwallis.
