    In1801, Tripoli wanted money from the U.S. for protection in the Mediterranean Sea from pirate attacks. Once the demands for money went up Thomas Jefferson refused to pay more.     In 1830, Andrew Jakson made the Indian rmeoval act even though it was illeagel. This moved five tribes to the Indian Territory, which is now the state of oklahoma.
