President Madison Takes Office
As President Madison took office tensions with Britian were very high. Americans were very upset with Britian at the the because, they armed Native Americans in the Northwest. The Bristish were also imprissining American sailors which the Americans resented. Many Americans didnt like the feeling of there countries honor at stake. -
War Hawks Take Power
Henry Clay who lived in Kentucky and Jhon C. Calhoun who lived in South Carolina, were leaders in the House Of Represenatives. Both these men and there supporters can also be known as the War Hawkws. The War Hawks were very egar to start a war with Britian. Since the War Hawks were in power people had to do what they were told even though many New Englanders felt war would harm American trade. -

Relations with Great Britian were worsening steadily in the very early months of 1812. The British had informed the United States in the spring they would not cease to continue impressing sailors. America was most defintley ready for war. Jefferson had made spending cuts that were weaking the military. The Navy only had 16 warships prepared and ready for battle. On top of that the army was very small. It only consisted of fewer then 7,000 men. -

Battle of Lake Erie
This battle took 3 hours. It took place at put in bay on the westur side of the lake. Durning this battle an American flagship was damaged. Oliver Perry eventully switchted to another ship. THen he fought there until they won. -
Battle Of Horeshoe Bend
Federal were devoted to the war of 1812. Tenesse, Gerorgia, and Alabama organized militas that were commanded by colonial Andrew Jackson. Jackson and his forces ended up defeating the creeks at the battle. -
Washington DC Attacked And Burned
Washington ended up being invaded by a British army making its way from chesapeak bay. The British were accompaneid by 4,000 soldires. Eventully the majority of washingtons residents fled the city, with James Madison in attendance. The British set fire to many government buildings. -

British Warships bombarded the fort of Baltimore through the night. A man named Fancis Scott Key an American had been watching the battle. He noticed at dawn that the America was still flyinh over the fort. This annonced the Americans victory. Caught in the moment Key wrote on the back of an envalope a poem called the star spangled banner. -

This meeting was held in Conneticut. This meeting was held to discuss the problem of the New England war. It was also known as Mr.Madisons war. As they discussed this New England still opposed to Embargo. -

This was signed by the British and American represenatives in Gehent, Belgium. This treaty ended the war of 1812. Between Great Britian and America all conqured territory was to be returned. They also planned to settle the boundary line between the United States and Canada. -
Battle Of New Orleans
This battle was lead by Andrew Jackson. It took place two weeks after the treaty of Gehent. Britian(with an army of 7,500 soldires that were lead under Sir Edward Pakenham) had marched to New Orleans and planned to seperate that and the state of Louisiana from the United States. But The Americans(with 4,500 troops lead under Andrew Jackson) had been informed ahead of time. They ended up deafeating Britian.
