    Month 1

    In the first month of pregnancy, many different structures form. A tiny clump of cells are formed which then grow to become the amniotic sac, placenta and umbilical cord. Then a tube is formed that then becomes the fetuses brain and spinal cord as well as the baby's circulatory system. During the first month, the mother could feel very nauseous and tired.

    Month 2

    During the second month several things happen. The cartilage inside the embryo turns into bone. Also the embryo moves around but the mother cannot feel it yet. By the end of the month, the baby is now a fetus is around one inch long and weighs about 1/3 of an ounce. A 3rd of the baby is its head. During this time the mother could experience aches and pains in the lower abdomen and morning sickness

    Month 3

    In the 3rd month of pregnancy a few changes happen to the baby. Skin and fingernails begin to grow as well as the outer sex organs, male or female. Also, the fetus begins to make spontaneous movements and the kidneys start making urine. The mother during this time will begin having symptoms of pregnancy like nausea, sore breasts or needing to pee more often.

    Month 4

    During the 4th month of pregnancy the baby starts to move around more. It starts to suck its thumb, yawn, and even make faces! Also during this time, the baby's nervous system starts to function. The reproductive organs and genitalia are now fully developed. The doctor can also tell through ultrasound the baby's gender.

    Month 5

    For the 5th month of pregnancy, the mom starts to feel the baby move for the first time. Everything from month 4 still continues in this month.

    Month 6

    During the 6th month, your fetus starts to develop blood cells, taste buds, eyebrows and eyelashes. For the mom they might feel itchy, especially on your stomach, as your skin stretches to accommodate your growth.

    Month 7

    7 months in your baby, who is now about 18 inches long and weighs as much as about five pounds, will continue to mature and develop body fat reserves. During this time the baby's brain is rapidly developing.

    Month 8

    Around eight months pregnant, the baby is quickly gaining weight and fat, and getting closer to the eventual birth weight.The fine hair called lanugo that has covered the baby's tiny body over the past few weeks starts to disappear.

    Month 9

    During the 9th month the baby's lungs and brain are almost fully developed. Also the baby's bones begin to harden as well but the head stays flexible to navigate the birth canal. During this time the baby's lungs have matured to breathe outside of the womb after birth. The baby's reflexes are more coordinated and they can blink, turn their head, and grasp.
