Month 1- Baby
-Size of a pinhead. The egg attaches to the lining of the uterus. Critizal stage of brain and spinal cord develpoment. Internal organs and circulatory system begin to form. -
Month 1- Mother
Missed period. -
Month 2- Baby
Size is 6 cm. Face, eyes, ears, and limbs take shape. Bones begin to form. -
Month 2- Mother
Breasts begin to swell. Pees more frequently. Possible morning sickness. Fatigue is common. -
Month 3- Baby
Size is 1 inch. Nostrils, mouth, lips, teeth buds, and eye lids form. Fingers and toes almost complete. All organs are present. -
Month 3- Mother
Breasts become firmer and fuller, and they may ache. Nausia, fatigue, and fequent urination. Abdomen because slighly larger. The uterus is the size of an orange. Gain a totally of 2-4 lbs -
Month 4- Baby
Size is 3 inches. Can suck its thumb, swallow, and hiccup and move around. Facial features become clearer. -
Month 4- Mother
Abdomen continues to grow slowly. Morning sickness, usually gone. Appetite increases. -
Month 5- Baby
Size about 7 inches and4-5 ounces. Hair, eyelashes, and eyebrows appear. Teeth continue to develop. Organs are mature. Becomes more active -
Month 5- Mother
Enlarged abdomen becomes apparent. Slight fetal movements felt. Increased size may begin to affect posture. -
Month 6- Baby
Size about 8-10 inches and 8--12 ounces. Fat deposits under skin, but fetus appears wrinkled. Breathing movements begin. -
Month 6- Mother
Fetal movements sensed as strong kicks, thumps, and bumps. Some may be visible. Weight gain be the beginning of this month my total 10-12 lbs. -
Month 7- Baby
Size is about 7-12 inches. Weighs about 1-1/2 pounds. Periods of activity followed by periods or rest and quiet. -
Month 7- Mother
Increased size may affect posture. -
Month 8- Baby
Size is about 14-16 inches. 2 1/2-3 pounds. Weight gain countinues rapidly. May react to loud noises with a reflex jerking action. -
Month 8- Mother
Discomfort may result from increased size. Fetal kicks may disturb the mothers rest. At the beggining of this month weight gain totals about 18-20 pounds. -
Month 9- Baby
Size is about 17-19 inches. Weighs 5-6 pounds. Weight gain continues. Skin becomes smooth as fat deposits continue. Movements decress as the fetus has less room to move around. The baby decends into pelvis, ready for birth. -
Month 9- Mother
Breathing becomes easier. Other discomfots may continue. A total weight gain of 25-35 pounds is typical. False labor pains may be experienced.
