Evolution of Traditional to New Media

  • Pre-Industrial Age

    Pre-Industrial Age
Books, moreover history books from my elementary and high school years and also internet exposed me to the different kinds of historical media platforms that the Pre-Industrial Age had. I only saw cave paintings, clay tablets on my books, on internet, mostly on movies and never in real life.

I spend my summer vacation in our small chapel in Malabon when I was little, I think it was 2006 when my grand-father which is a pastor, pulled out a fascinating thing from the bottom of his bed; he also put a clear sheet of paper on its top and he started to press the letters and when I asked him what was that interesting thing he was pressing he told me it was a typewriter. He used the typewriter to write the prayers, psalms, etc. that the church people use when there’s a mass.

When I was 5 years old (2005) I knew what a newspaper is, because my family use newspapers to start a fire on our so called ‘dirty kitchen’. I also remember that whenever my grand-mother bought a bag of fresh pandesal she also hold a roll of a newspaper which I think she also bought from the bread vendor, “manlalako ng pandesal” who rides his bike in the early morning.

    Electronic Age pt.1
My grand-mother has this big black rectangular thing right beside her bed and it is her most precious thing which is her radio. She said that the radio exits on her bedroom way back when my mother was still a college student. Soon enough when I was a toddler (2004), I do not have a full knowledge what it is and how does it function, but I know and I am aware that when my grand-mother press, push or turn something on the radio, I hear sounds, voice speaking and lots of music.

I am also aware and exposed to the television when I was a kid (2004) because my parents kind of made us watch cartoon shows to entertain and educate us (me and my brother) and I remember watching our favorite tellie tubbies on our big fat television.
  • Infromation Age

    Infromation Age
It was the year of 2008 when my mother brought me to her office and that was my first time seeing an actual computer set. While 2010 was the year when my father gave us an mp3 player and soon also gave us an mp4 player. 2012 was the year when my parents decided to hand over me their used mobile phone and it was my first time to own a personal mobile phone and what I like about it is it flips.
