The Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre occurred when American citizens attacked the British. After the massacre ended, a meeting was held in which the removal of the British was demanded. -

The Tea Act was originally established to assist the East India Company with their financial trouble, but the American colonies thought that the British were using it to raise revenue, and they were furious. -
The Boston Tea Party
In 1773 the British East India Company was on the verge of going bankrupt, so in order to increase profits a tax was put on tea. On December 13th the ships carrying tea arrived and the angry Bostonians dumped 342 chests of tea into the water. -
Patrick Henry's "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death!" speech
Patrick Henry gave the "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death" speech at the St. John's Church in Richmond, Virginia to try and convince the colonial leaders at the Second Virginia Convention to try and convince them to rebel against the king. -
Thomas Paine's "Common Sense" is published
Thomas Paine wrote the book "Common Sense" to challenge the authority of British government and ask for independence. -
The Declaration of Indepence is signed
The Declaration of Independence is adopted by Congress and printed by John Dunlap.
