    Led 30 years of naigations. Under his directions, the Portuguese made many discovers and made improvements to ship-designs and sea-faring methods.

    Columbus
    Was an Italian explorer/navigator. His first voyage to the Atlantic Ocean in 1476 almost killed him. In 1492, he left Spain with 3 ships: the Nina, MInta, & Santa Maria.

    Vasco da Gama
    Discovered an ocean route from Portugal to the East. In September 1499, he was reward by the king. Was the first perosn to sail directly from Europe to India.

    Balboa
    First European to see the eastern part of the Pacific Ocean. He was beheaded in January of 1519 for being found gulity for being charged for treason against Spain.

    Magellan

    Magellan
    He took part in his first sea expedition in 1505. He led the first voyage/expedition that sailed around the Earth. He left with 5 ships, and was killed during the exploration.
