Marcus finds out Charlie is Troy's dad. -

pg. 8 "When they got to the fence,there sat the football: in the passenger seat of a Toyota Camry, clearly visible through the shattered side window." Charlie had gotten alzheimers from hitting so hard in football. He got it at a young age. -
Marcus finds out something

Marcus finds out that Charlie has alzheimers. It makes sense to him because of Charlie's strange behavior. Like when he left Marcus to pay for a window that he broke.while throwing a football. this is indirect characterization because it shows that Marcus is kind because he payed for the broken window for Charlie. pg 8 (Korman) -
the event
Marcus takes Charlie to a celebration at EBU where Charlie is elected into the university's hall of fame.
Climax -
The big game
After taking charlie to the big event Marcus is taken back to the competitive game at Marcus's school. Troy purposely hurts his wrist so Marcus can play because Troy is afraid of getting hurt.
falling action -
falling action
charlie climbs on a wire thinking he is the athletic person he was. (because of alzheimers) Charlie falls and dies... -
Conclusion
Marcus throws a victory pass to win the most competitive game of the season.
Troy stops playing football because of the fear of being hurt like his dad. -
Direct/indirect charecterization
pg 84 Charlie says "I would have felt that it. Probably just a dislocation." (Korman) Marcus dislocated his arm when tackling Charlie and he hits his arm against the wall it goes back in. This shows he is tough to go do something to fix it.
pg 23 it says "Gunshy. that had always been the knock on Marcus."(Korman) this is a direct characterization meaning he doesn't like to get hurt.
pg. 98 "Marcus waved blithely back and slipped quickly out of view" (Korman) -

he is a rather optimistic and happy person around friends.
