The first boat
The oldest recovered boat in the world is the Pesse canoe, a dugout made from the hollowed tree trunk and constructed somewhere between 8200 and 7600 BC. -
New boats
In 1807, Robert Fulton, invented the first steamboat called the Clermont. John Fitch built four more steamboats, but they were expensive to build and to operate. Because they were so expensive, his steamboats were unsuccessful.
