Peter the Great Birth
Peter I born in Moscow, Russia on June 9th 1672. -
Peter the Great's father, Alexis, dies.
When Peter was just four years old, his father, Tsar Alexis died of a heart attack. Peter's step-brother, Fyodor III, inherited the throne in 1676. -
Feodor III dies
The ruler of Russia, who took Tsar Alexis's place died in 1682. Peter and his brother, Ivan V are left to rule together. -
Peter the Great's arranged marriage
In 1689, when Peter was 17 years old, Natalya Naryshkina arranged his marriage to Eudoxia. This political action was taken in order to prove Peter's maturity and right to rule. However, Peter did not love his new wife, he showed little sympathy and forced her into a convent. -
Peter the Great Inherits the Throne
After years of jointly ruling with his brother Feodor III, Peter inherits the throne. Due to his mental illness Feodor III, he was no longer eligible for the throne. -

Holy Govern Synod System is Created
Peter the Great abolished the head of church and created a system of bishops and bureaucrats appointed by the Emperor. Peter did this in order to have more control over Russia. -
Peter leads army into war (The Great Northern War)
Peter starts a land dispute with the Swedish over land on the Baltic coast. By the end of the war in 1721, Russia had conquered vast lands on the Baltic coast. -
Peter establishes St. Petersburg
During the Great Northern War, Peter founded St. Petersburg as the capital of Russia. This land was located in the Neva river delta. -
Peter the Great's First Child
In 1704, Peter had his first child, who was named Peter. However, he died as and infant due to a fever. -
Peter the Great's Second Marriage
Peter the Great sends Eudoxia Lopukina, his wife at the time, to convent and married Catherine I of Russia instead. -
Peter the Great Death
By the age of 52, Peter falls into a coma from the gangrene disease. He successfully ruled over Russia for 45 years.
