    Arranged by Natalya Naryshkina, Peter marries Eudoxia. It was seen by many as a political act intended to show that 17 year old Peter was a grown man. Peter did not like the marriage and in 1698, he relegated her to a convent.

    Peter went with 250 people to study nautical matters. He was under disguise as Sgt. Pyotr Mikhaylov. Peter familiarized himself with advanced countries of the West. For about four months, Peter studied ship-building, working in the Royal Navy, and he also visited many factory's and schools. He like the modern style the people on the west were living. Peter then wanted to Westernize Russia when he returned. He did just that, it was a struggle, but in the end people adapted. Ca. 1697

    St. Petersburg was founded. Built by prisoners from the Great Northern War. Became the capitol of Russia for more than 200 years!

    Since peter discarded his old wife, he wanted a new one. The person he chooses is Catherine I. They got married and she gave birth to 8 children.

    Peter had his first kid from Catherine I. His name was Peter. (Pyotr) He didn't make it long before dying of an illness due to being overall unhealthy. He died at the age of 4.

    Peter catches a "Chill"
    Peter saw some of his soldiers in danger of drowning on a sinking ship. He plunged himself into the water to save their lives and ended up catching a chill from the icy waters. This became serious but Peter continued to work through the winter. Ca. 1724
