Birth
At birth my parents were very important to me to help me grow and thrive in the new environment. They expected me to simply eat, sleep, and begin to develop a secure attachment to them. A major historical event around that time was operation desert storm (the war). -
Broken arm
I broke my arm playing on the monkey bars. At this time my parents were still the significant people in my life. Their expectations were to follow their directions and rules and to work hard in school. A major event during that time was the impeachment of bill Clinton. -
Joined army
I joined the army right out of high school. My dad was the most important person in my life at that time as my mom had kicked me out of the house. My dad always supported my decisions while my mom liked to make decisions for me so their expectations were quite different. An important event in history was that president barrack Obama became the first African American present. -
Married
The significant person in my life at this time was my husband mark. My parents did not really have any spoken expectations as they didn't really stay in touch, but I suppose the general expectation after marrying is that I would be faithful and at some point possibly have kids. A political/social event of the time was the affordable care act being signed which had a major impact on everyone. -
First child
I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy in anchorage Alaska. He and my husband were the most important people in my life at that time. My parents again did not really have any clear expectations since we were not really in touch, but the general expectation is to take care of my family and meet their needs. A major event during this time was the army "don't ask don't tell policy" was repealed.
