Personal History Timeline

  • Birth- Personal

On October 19, 1994, I was born in Colombia, South Carolina to two very eager and excited parents. I was their first child. This date is perhaps one of the most essential dates on my personal timeline because it is when my entire life began. I entered the world on this very day and every day since then has been a journey to become who I want to be.
  • Megan- Personal

On January 29, 1996, I officially became a big sister. My younger sister, Megan, was born on this particular day. Megan and I are fifteen months apart and we have been extremely close all of our lives. She has been through everything with me, staying right by side. She knows me better than most people and we have an extremely close connection. All of my childhood memories include Megan and she is such a crucial part of my personal history timeline.
  • Macy- Personal

My youngest sister, Macy, completed our family just a few years later. Macy has taught me so much about life. She looks to me as a role model and sets great expectations for me. Though younger, she still shares a lot of wisdom and enjoyable times. Macy brings a sense of adventure and excitement to our family. Like Megan, Macy also supports and encourages me in all aspects of my life. She is one of my biggest cheerleaders and she knows that I will always be there for her.
  • Chattanooga- Personal

After living in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, for five years, my parents decided to make a change that would forever impact the rest of my life. In May 2002, my family and I moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee. My dad accepted a job serving at a local church and I began second grade at a new school. This move would mark a significant change in my life because this is where most of my life occurred. I grew up in Chattanooga and it is the place that I call home.
  • Grace Academy- Personal

When entering the third grade, I enrolled in a small private school. Little did I know that I would spend the rest of my school years at Grace Academy. This is the place that has directly molded me into the individual I am today. I learned about myself and the world around me. I made life-changing relationships with teachers and friends. The Grace community became a family to my own and still remains a large part of my life.
  • High school Graduation- Professional

I spent ten years at Grace Academy and proudly graduated in May 2013 with a class of 35 students. I was very involved in school throughout my high school years. I was a member of student government, the Beta club, and the National Honors Society. I also played volleyball all four years of high school. I made excellent grades and finished with an impressive GPA. Although terrified of the unknown future that lie ahead, I left the community of Grace fully equipped with what was next.
  • Smyrna- Personal

A few short days after graduating high school, my family once again packed up and moved to Smyrna, Tennessee. My dad received a pastoring position at a church near Nashville. My younger sisters transferred schools and we all had to begin our lives in a new setting. My home was no longer in Chattanooga and several adjustments had to be made in my personal life.
  • Education Program- Professional

During my senior year of high school it became clear to me that I wanted to pursue becoming a teacher. When I entered college at Carson-Newman University, I decided to become an elementary education major. At the end of my freshman year, I was officially accepted into the Education program. After meeting a series of requirements and an interview process, I was set on the path that would lead to the rest of my life.
  • MTSU- Professional

I loved my time at Carson-Newman, but was forced to make a difficult decision after my first year. Due to several reasons, I decided to move home and transfer to Middle Tennessee State University. I commuted back and forth from and had to adjust to a completely new way of life. MTSU was very different than Carson-Newman, but my love for education remained the same.
  • Carson-Newman- Professional

I continued my schooling at MTSU for one semester before returning to Carson-Newman. I loved the school too much and opportunities arose me to return. In January 2015, I moved back to Jefferson City, Tennessee. This semester; however, would be different than my freshman year. I accepted a role as a Resident Assistant in the girl's freshman dorm. Being an RA has forever impacted my leadership abilities, how I work with others, and organization and time management.
  • Student Teaching- Professional

Next semester I will begin student teaching in the East Tennessee area. I am not sure yet what grades I will be teaching, but I know that this will be a great learning experience for me. Student teaching is going to provide hands-on experience that will be beneficial before I have a classroom of my own.
  • College Graduation- Professional

This May I will be set to graduate with a major in Elementary Education and licensed to teach kindergarten through sixth grade. For four years I have worked extremely hard to make it to this point. It has been a dream of mine to finish college and begin a teaching position. Throughout my time at college I have been involved with Residence Life, Student Ambassador Association, Mortar Board, and have even made Dean's List each semester.
