    Sensorimotor Stage
    infants develop their ability to coordinate motor actions with sensory activity. At the beginning of this stage infants behaviors are dominated by reflexes, but by the end they can use mental images.

    begins at birth as a child forms an attachment. Usually to the mother. The infants social development will keep increasing as the childs skills and knowledge grow, as they start talking more and their motor skills become more efficient.

    Visual Cliff
    A study of an infants ability to perceive depth. Ex.-A box with a glass platform that extends over a drop of several feet. The experimenter stannds on one side of the glass and calls to the child on the other side of the bridge.
  • Assimilation

    Assimilation
    Is the process of using information about the world then fitting it into something you already know. Ex.- When the child calls several different males "Daddy" based on the childs perception that they are similiar.
