Began looking for a shorter route to Asia. Columbus and Cortes found Cuba in 1519. -
British Colonization
The British Colony was developed by Walter Raleigh. Raleigh was chosen by Queen Elizabeth. His first attempt was in 1585, but unsuccessful. Raleigh's second attempt worked. Walter returns to England, and he was forced to stay there because England was fighting the Spanish. When he returned to Roanoke in 1591, nobody was there. This made the 1st British Colonization a failure. -
