Roosevelt Offer To Build The Panamal
`Roosevelt offered 10 million in cash to Columbia to build the canal. He wanted a shorter route to get ships around Flordia and California , instead of having to take months getting around both states. Roosevelt wanted to build the Panama Canal so then ships could cut through Flordia and California without the long trips and trouble. Columbia did not accept the deal at first they also didn't want the U.S. owning 6 miles of wide stretch of there land. -
Panama Revolte
Roosevelt had panama led to believing that the US would help if they claimed independence. Columbia agreed to what they thought the US had in mind for them and there country. The Revolt was beginning because Columbia accepted the offer. -

Columbia had a frenchman who was for param sign a treaty. This gave the US control over 6 mile length of columbia, the US also agreeing to the 10 million and $250,000 yearly rent. Before any of this could proceed the US had recognized the independence Republic of the Panama -
Start Of Panama
this is when the US started the process of building the panama. A huge problem occurred during the start there was engineering problems and one of the worts problems was diseases. They where spreading throughout panama William C.Gorgas was a man that was an expert with tropical diseases. He wanted to figure out what was killing off lots of people in Columbia many thought the disease was caused by the night air but doctor Ronald Ross found it

Solution To The Diseases
Gorges does al his research in trying to figure out what the solution to the leases is. Gorgas was then able to find the cure and save lives reduced the deaths and almost cleared malaria in Panama. He had men clear the swamps and drained many other places. These places that where drained and cleared was where the mosquitos lived. Gorges saved many lives and cleared malaria for good. -

The panama was separated in three different sections one was the Atlantic the other Central and the last Pacific. The rate of how long it took to build the Panama Canal was very impressive in a short period of time they had.
