Booth's inital plan was to kidnap Lincoln and use him to ransome for the release of some of his fellow confederate soldiers. -
Planning the Abduction
Booth and his team met at a restraunt a couple blocks from Ford's theater and began plotting to intercept the President when he and his wife were on their way to a play, Still Water Runs Deep, and kidnap Lincoln. -
Plan Fails
Booth's kidnapping plan fails when instead of going to the play as planned, the President gives a speech and presents a captured flat to the 140th Indiana Regiment. -
The Play
Lincoln plans to go to the play Our American Cousin with his wife Mary the following evening. -
Killing Rampage - The Team
Booth put together a team and on this night, his team set out on assassination attempts of government officials, Booth giving himself the task of killing Lincoln. George Atzerodt was to kill the Vice President, Andrew Johnson, but failed, and Lewis Powell was to kill the Secretary of State, Seward. -
Powells Attempt
At 10:20 at night, Powell entered Seward's home with a knife, attacking the Secretary of State. He lived, though severely injured, and was able to keep his position as Secretary of State. -
The Shot
Booth creeps up to Lincolns box in Fords theater and proceeds to shoot Lincoln in the back of the head, and jump down the balcony to make a quick escape. -

Booth's team is caputred and taken to jail. -

Booth Captured
12 days after killing Lincoln, Booth was discovered hiding in a barn. They forced Booth out by igniting the barn and caught him when he fled.
