The Civil War ends. -
President Lincoln Dies
At 10:13 p.m. John Wilkes Booth enters the President's box and waits for the actor to be on stage by himself. The crowd starts to laugh, now is the perfect time. John Wilkes Booth shot the President at exactly 10:13 and he was now the happiest man ever. -
Attempted Assassination
At around 10:00 p.m. Lewis Powell decides to attempt to murder Seward. The worst Powell did was slash him on the cheek. Powell's plan didn't work, so, he fled the scene. -
Herold Abandons Powell
David Herold decided to flee the scene when he realized that the plan wasn't working and he didn't want to stay no longer. He took Powell's horse and got on his. He left. Now, Powell has no way to get back. -
Booth Escapes
Between 10;35 and 10:45 John Wilkes Booth escapes Stewart, the only guy in the audience to try and catch him, and gets out to the alley where his horse is. He gets on his horse as Stewart is coming out the theater door. He goes on F Street to the bridge where Cobb let's him go, even though the bridge is closed after 9:00 p.m. He escapes and heads to Maryland. -
David gets across bridge
On this day, David Herold left Powell to find his own way out of the city. David got on his horse and fled. He argued with Sergaent Cobb forever before Cobb would let Herold across. Once he caught up with Booth, he got hammered with questions. -
People Rush Out of Theater
On this day between 10:30 and 11:00 p.m. 1,500 people rushed out of Ford's Theater into the streets. They wanted to go into the boardinghouse where Lincoln will die. -
Lincoln Arrives at Theater
At 8:30 p.m. President Lincoln arrives at Ford's Theater to watch the play, but has no idea what's going to happen next. -
Conspirator Meeting
At 8:00 p.m. John Wilkes Booth meets with Lewis Powell, David Howell, and George Atzerodt to plan how they are going to kill Linclon, Secretary of State Seward, and the vice president. -
John Wilkes Booth Leaves Theater
At 9:00 p.m. John Wilkes Booth decides he has enough time to leave the theater and have a drink, even though he knows there are risks he takes with stopping his plans. -
Laura Keene and President Lincoln
Laura Keene, a famous actress, walked in the President's box at Ford's Theatre and asked to hold Lincoln's head in her lap. Dr.Leale saw no problem with it and allowed her to do so. When she held his head blood and gray brain matter oozed out on her floral clothing. -
Lincoln's Pronounced Dead
At 7:22:10 a.m., President Abe Lincoln is pronounced dead. He died after suffering for many hours. He died a happy man. His wife couldn't bear to see him like this, so, she never went and saw him. -
Manhunt
On this same day the manhunt begins. Dr.Mudd allowed the assassins to crash at his place for a while, but he didn't know that they assassinated the president of the United States. He helped them get away, realizing he was a part of the whole situation now. There were a lot of manhunters hunting for Booth and Herold. -
Atzerodt
At 2 p.m. Atzerodt arrives at his cousins house, Hartman Richtor to hide, once again. -
Investigation
Stanton went into the boarding house where Lincoln lays and decides to open up an investigation to help catch the assassins. He ordered for private investigators and detectives to help with it. -
Powell Gets Caught
On this day Lewis Powell showed up at Mary Suratt's house wanting to see John. Mary claimed she didn't know him and have never seen him before in her life. The soldiers that were there then arrested him. -
Atzerodt gets Caught
On this day George Atzerodt gets caught. Well, they found out where he was staying and he didn't think he would be able to run, so he surrendered. -
John Wilkes Booth Dies
On April 26 at 12:30 a.m. he gets shot and killed by Boston Corbett. He shot him after setting the barn on fire. He shot him and then dragged him out of the barn. -
The conspirators are Arrested
Mary Surratt, Lewis Powell, George Atzerodt, and David Herold were held on trial and found guilty. The next day the would join Booth where he died. -
The Execution
Today Mary Surratt, Lewis Powell, George Atzerodt, and David Herold will be hung with bags over their heads in punishment for helping J.W. Booth in the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln.
