NH Rules Timeline

    Pre-referral
    Teacher collects accurate assessments and determines the need for an evaluation.
  • Referral and disposition of referral

    Referral and disposition of referral
    The child's parents are notified that a meeting is needed to discuss their child's abilities. Meeting must take place within 15 days of notice. An education team is assembled to determine if the child should be evaluated.
  • Evaluation

    Evaluation
    After parents agree in writing to have the child evaluated, evaluation must take place within 45 calendar days by qualified personnel. Written results are provided to parents.
  • Disability and eligibility determination

    Disability and eligibility determination
    When evalutions are complete, eligibility for services is determined. The child is identified of a specific disability based on classifications listed in the NH Rules Ed 1102.01(f).
  • Development of IEP

    Development of IEP
    After determination of need, and within 30 days of elegibility determination, the team along with the parents, meets and drafts an IEP. The IEP Team includes specific required components listed in the NH Rules Ed 1109.01 and 1109.03. Meetings must have written notice 10 days prior to the event.

    After an IEP is designed, IEP team meets to determine placement in the least restrictive environment (LRE) where services will be administered.

    Implementation and monitoring

    Once implementation begins, monitoring will be ongoing to ensure the child is making acceptable progress. If progress is continual and appropriate, the IEP team will meet every 3 years to update program. If progress is unacceptable, the IEP team may call for meetings to adjust IEP, with parental permission.
