Agricultural Adjustment Act
This Act is a polocy of Congress, It was established in 1933. This was a program to restore agricultural prosperity by curtailing farm production, reducing export surpluses, and raising prices. It was sucsesfull but the Supreme Court declared in unconstitutinal in 1936. -
Federal Housing Administration
Insured Loans for building and repairing homes. -
Federal Emergency Relief Act
Distributed millions of dollars of direct aid to unemployed workers seeking money. This Act is still affecting todays citizens. -
Home owners loan Corporation
Loaned Money at low intrest to homeowners who could not meet mortgage payments. This is still in effect today. -
Glass-Steagall Act
Created Federally insured bank deposits (2500$ per investor at first) to prevent bank faluries. This Act has grown to provide insurance for all bank deposits up to 250,000$ today. -
Sucurities and Exchange Commision
Regulated the stock market and restricted margin buying. -
Social Security Act
Response to critics, it provided pensions, unemployment insurance, and aid to bind, deaf, disabled and dependent children. -
Rural Eletrification Administration
Encouraged farmers to join cooperatives to bring electricity to farms. Despite its effort, by 1940 only 40% of American farms were electrified. -
National Labor Relations Board
Defined unfair labor practices and established the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) to settle disputes between employers and employees. -
National Youth Administation
Provided part time employment to more than two million college and high school students. It is not in effect today.
