IB Program Begins
IB Program is founded in Geneva with 7 schools participating -
Middle Years Programme launched
Focus is on 11-16 year olds, and getting them to be forward thinking and intercultural learners while connecting their knowledge and skills to real world applications -
Primary Years Programme Launched
Increases the focus on 3-12 year olds and building the knowledge and skills to be successful in secondary education while also protecting their social and emotional development. -
Career-Related Programme launched
With focus on the 16-19 year old high school student range, the program is expanded to include more options for students to better customize their learning experience. Combines the rigor of DP with the flexibility to more accurately represent the student's preferred career choice -
Career-Related Programme Expansion
While focused on the 16-19 year old range, the CP expansion will incorporate new career disciplines and courses to the current curriculum, but will also allow a specification as early as the 11-16 year old range. In the expansion, students enrolled in the typical MYP would have the option to take a career based introductory course to their chosen field as a substitute for that course. (A student who wants to be an engineer can take an engineering course instead of physical sciences) -
Global Linkage
With the expansion rate of the IB programme and the consistent technological advances over the years, IB students are no longer constrained to their region to learn. To better prepare for a globalized world, students in an IB course will be linked with another course at an institution in another country. Throughout the year the course instructors will collaborate with one another with each teaching to their abilities, while the students will engage problems with different cultural points of view -
Global Communities
As the world becomes more globalized it will be more necessary to incorporate other cultural values and viewpoints into discussions and problem solving strategies. Each IB school while autonomous will have a link with 5 other schools around the world. Those schools will still have their individual course linked, but will also be able to schedule group discussions using representatives of each school through video conferencing.
