Believed to be the first science fiction author to seriously consider Artificial Intelligence and its concequences relating to morals and rights (Pivato, 2000). -
The term Cyborg created,
Manfred Kliein created this term in 1960 and defined it as "the human body as a rhetorical and material construction, a creature that combines informatics, mechanics, and organics. In other words, a cyborg." (Gray, unknown date). -
Ridley Scott's Blade Runner
Pivato describes Blade Runner as "capturing the uniqueness of the cyberpunk astetic [through] a juxtapostion of high technology with social decay as a troubling allorgry of the troubling relationship between humans and machines -- in particular, artificially intelligent machines" . -
William Gibson - Neuromancer
William Gibson's Neuromancer burst onto the scene in 1984 with an impact in the science fiction field (McCaffery, 1988). Winning the Hugo , Nebula and Phillip K. Dick awards some believe that this book launched the cyberpunk movement (McCaffery, 1988). His first novel is described by McCaffery as "scopic, fast paced, and full punked out, high tech weirdos, Neuromancer depicited with hallucinatory vividness the desperate, exhillarating feel of life in our new urban landscapes".
