"The Girl Who Was Plugged In" was another key moment in the Cyberpunk history as it also adds to one of the initial ideas of Cyberpunk. Bladerunner- First Big Time Movie On Cyberpunk
"Bladerunner" was based off the book "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep". It is the first real popular movie to show the Cyberpunk side of things and scarily enough some of the predictions that were made have come true. Click here for a page that helps you understand "Bladerunner" a bit more. -
Burning Chrome
Burning Chrome was also a key moment for Cyberpunk as it brought up things that at the time no one knew much about. One of the themes was the consuming nature of technology in our lives; being lost in the technology yet it was only 1982. We see nowadays that this a problem but back then the amount of technology available was very minimal. -
Neuromancer
Neuromancer was the first cyberpunk genre books to be commeded amongst the writing scene and won the Nebula Award, the Philip K. Dick Award, and the Hugo Award. The first ever magazine front cover about Cyberpunk hit the news stands on the 8th of Febuary 1993 and spoke about virtual sex, smart drugs and synthetic rock 'n' roll. The Matrix
With the release of this movie it brought much interest and excitement to the whole Cyberpunk world. It inspired people to look at what Cyberpunk is and many movies exploring the possibility of artificial intelligence have been released. According to Endean, 2009 it certainly sets a precedent through its innovative use of technology and not-so-subtle philosophical messages.
