1) Birth of Anish Kanungo
Yup- I was born on National Tax day of 2001 at three in the morning. I was delivered at the Dallas Medical Center, the second child of what would become a family of five. This event is signifigant because, as with everyone, birth is what brings us into this world. -
2) 9/11
I was only a few months old at this time, and none of my relatives were harmed by the incident, I was still affected by the attack on the World Trade Center in a way. The initial shock of the incident scared my parents- not just at the fact that something of such horror could happen, but also the fact that I would grow up learning that these things happened- so I didn't. My parents never told me about things such as the Holocaust or 9/11 to protect me from reality. -
3) First Day of Preschool
It was in September of 2004 (Specific day unknown.) that I took the second biggest step of my life- going to preschool. It was on that first day that I spent the whole time crying for my mom- but still, when we got to play, I had plenty of fun (We built a 4-foot wall out of foam blocks!). This day is important to me because the second my mom walked out of that building, that's when I began learning to be independent. -
4) Rolling Out
During our reccess ome day, a bunch of my friends and I saw the massive other 80% of out fenced-off play area that was empty, sitting under the tree shade. So we took advantage of our time to explore the shaded area, where in the corner of the region we found a bunch of massive tires that were home to a TON of pilbugs. This was a good time in my life because it was the first time I ever went out to explore without my parents accompanying me (Though my friends were still there.) -
5) Aarush
It was at 2:40 in the afternoon that I was pulled out of school with my big brother- the only thing that surprised us was that it was our dad who took us. We pulled up to the Dallas Medical Center, where we were taken to a room, where we met our new baby brother- Aarush. This day marked the day when I had the absolute biggest responsibility placed on my shoulders. -
6) A New Beginning
As my one year of preschool came to an end, I had to say goodbye to the place and move on to kindergarten. I attended Austin Elementary, and my older brother went there too as a 3rd grader. -
7) Moving
As our house got more and more crowded (We had my brothers, two of my older cousins, my parents, and me.), my parents needed a larger home, but at the same time the great education that CISD provided. So we moved to a larger house after I finished up Kindergarten. This is important to me because had I not moved, so many things in my life would be different. -
8) Lakeside
As first grade began, I was then new kid at Lakeside elementary. I was extremely shy at first- but my classmates welcomed me kindly. I soon began the meet new people, make way more friends, and had a much better time in school. This is important to me because I could've ended up a reclusive person in life if my classmates hadn't accepted me and greeted me so kindly. -
9) Canada
In the summer after 1st grade, my family and I traveled to Canada (Down and back by car.). It was there that I met two of my older cousins to whom I'd become very close to. This is important because it was the first time I ever saw two of my favorite cousins. -
10) 5th Grade
Fifth grade was my last year of elementary school- so I made the most of it. I met even more people, I became a member of Lakeside's very first Safety Patrol, I served my 4th year in the Science Club and my 2nd in the Chess Club, I got my Weblos II and Arrow of Light done in Cub Scouts, and overall made it a good year. This is important to me because it marks the last "easy year" of my life. -
11) Middle School
(August, 2012-May, 2015) Middle School was the part of my life in which I matured and developed the most. I did many things that will define me for the rest of my life. I joined clubs, met new people, learned about my subjects and life, met some of the best people I've ever known, shaped-up with athletics, learned trumpet in band, and left with a great deal of knowledge that I would need in life (As well as many dumb things that I wish I could forget). And that is overall why it mattered to me. -
12) Band Camp
As I went into Freshman year of high school (At CHS), I had joined the band there. It is here that I had become close with some of my former aquaintances and met some great people. It matters to me because band kept me fit, taught me lessons I would need in life, and introduced me to some great role models, such as the older kids. -
CHS Band London Trip
During the 2016 Spring Break, I went to London with the High School Band. While there, I got to do a great deal of things and see many wonderful things. This is important because I got to travel internationally (To some place other than India.) and I wasn't with my family. -
13) Canada Again
After Freshman year, I had a long summer ahead of me- but one of the biggest things that I had planned was a trip to Canada to visit my cousins there. The reason this is important to me is because this was the first time in years that I finally got to see them, and I can now stay in touch with them through text.
