Shiloh
Shiloh is special because it was the first battle that the north won. The north won because the south retreated. It was also known as the bloodiest battle. The cause of Shiloh had big effects, the battle lead to the north winning. There was a lot of memorials made about it also. -
battle of Antietam
The confederate was lead by Lee and the union was lead by McClellan. Up until this battle most of the battles have been fought on southern ground. This battle was on the Unions area though. Lee was expecting to win but the Union actually won. This was the bloodiest single day of the war. -
chancellorsville
This is a special battle because people say it was lee's greatest victory. The south won and it was a well deserved victory. Lee made a smart move to split his troops. This caused Hooker to retreat. That is how the confederacy won. -
Stone Wall Jackson's death
Stone wall Jackson was Lee's right hand man. he was the most trust worthy out of all the troops. He died on May 10th, 1863. The worst part about his death was that it was due to friendly fire. That means this could have easily been avoided. -
Gettysburg
Gettysburg does not seem that important. In my eyes it is the most important battle of them all. Gettysburg is so important because it was the turning point in the war. From this battle and on the Union has had most of the victories. This is the war that leads the Union to winning. A fun fact is that this is the bloodiest whole battle. -
Lincoln's Assassination
After the Civil war finally ended, a man named John Wilkes Booth assassinated Lincoln. Lincoln was in a theater watching a play from the presidential chair with his wife. Wilkes Booth shot Lincoln in the back of the head and jumped off on the stage. Before the play Lincoln did not want to go but his wife made him. Technically in some it was his wife's fault that he died.
