Stephen Austin starts bringing in families to colonize in Texas. -
Battle of the Alamo
Began on February 23, 1836, Mexico finds out Texas is going to declare indepence and Mexico gets mad so they send in troops to Alamo and Mexico wins and they kill all the Texians at the Alamo. -
Battle of Jacinto
Texas is mad they lost the Battle of the Akamo so they attack Jacinto (Alamo now owned by Mexico) and they win and get the Alamo back and capture the Mexican president. -
Texas Wins Independence
After Texas won the Battle of Jacinto they win their independence. -
Texas Annexation
Beginning in 1845 Texas becomes part of the United States. -
Mexican American War
Starting on April 25, 1846, a war between Mexico and America takes place. Began when America annexed Texas and Mexico gets mad because they thought that Texas was still their territory even though Texas won their independence and America wins the war. -
Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo/ Mexican Cession
The treaty is between America and Mexico, the treaty ends the Mexican American War. Mexican Cession the historical name for the region of modern day southwestern US that Mexico ceded to US in this treaty. -
Gadsden Purchase
Began in 1853, this is the region of land that is now present day Southern Arizona and Southwestern New Mexico that was purchased by US from Mexico in a treaty signed by James Gadsden.
