    Stephen Austin's 180
Stephen Austin was the most driven to assimilate and even changed his name to "Esteban", depicting himself as more of a spaniard and less of an anglo. Esteban went to D.F. to negotiate the terms of Texas and its independence, but was given a year long jail sentence. Once out, he changed. Some say Esteban changed due to dropping the proverbial bar of cow fat and ended up meeting someone. I think he saw Texas drifting away and hopped on the U.S. train as to avoid losing his massive wealth.

They wanted to right a wrong. Juan Seguin, a lucky courrier that day, vowed to avenge his brothers. This would lead to the Battle of San Jacinto, Santa Anna's first mistake.
