    Their history starts at about 2000 BC and goes to 1697, unlike the Aztecs the maya never formed an empire, instead stayed split up into various states & tribes however they had shared a culture, language group, & religious beliefs that made them a unified civilization.

    Large parts of the civilization collapsed again, cities which had existed for over 2,000 years were abandoned & people moved towards the coast, best theories are warfare, drought, disease, and political instability.

    Inca legend, the sun god Inti sent his son Manco Capac & daughter Mama Ocllo to earth, gave them a golden rod, and they wandered from one place to another, one day they found a valley, pushed the golden rod to the ground & found the Inca Empire and made cuzco the capital.

    Nearly 300 years Inca tribe slowly expanded their kingdom along with Andes Mountains, started out a tiny spot called cuzco, their land included Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, and Chile.

    Legend has it a long time, a group of people wandering that is now Central Mexico, had no homes, their divine god promised them land, they arrived at the shore of Lake Texcoco and began to built a city called it Tenochtitlan, establish a formidable empire lasted for 300 years.

    Almost 250 years Pachacuti ascended to the throne, he set up a federal government at Cuzco & divided the empire into four provinces, Chinchasuyu in NW, Antisuyu in NE, Contusuyu in SW, & Collasuyu in SW, called his empire Tahuantinsuya (land of four quaters)

    A spaniard name Francisco Pizarro wanted to find the legendary El Dorado, rumor says that the place was full of gold, he set sail from panama in August 1526 had two ships & 160 men with him, they finally reached the outskirts of the Inca Empire, were convinced that they had found El Dorado.

    In 1519 Herman Cortes & his fellow spaniards landed on Gulf Coast, allied themselves with a local tribe called Tlaxcala, they sacked Tenochtitlan on August and brought Aztec Empire to its knees.

    Pizarro returned to the area again, got to meet Atahualpa the encounter did not go well, not for the emperor himself, November Pizarro and his followers caught Atahualpa and held him captive, demanded a large amount of ransom for his release, Pizarro broke his promise and executed Atahualpa, September the Inca Empire truly faded away.
