Although they did sink and damage a lot of our ships and kill around 2,400 Americans, the Japanese considered it a failure. -

Jewish resistance in German occupied Poland. This opposed Nazi Germany's final effort to transport the rest of the Ghetto population to Treblinka. The German commander then gave orders to burn the Ghetto block by block which killed over 300 Jews. This was the largest Jewish resistance in WWII. -

Under President Harry S. Truman, he ordered an American bomber, Enola Gay, to drop an atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima. Shortly after, a second bomb was dropped on the city of Nagasaki. This was the first time an atomic bomb has ever been used, it was a new technology, however it was used because the President thought it would bring the war to a speedy end. -
