  • Mecca before Muhammad

    Mecca before Muhammad was inhabited by Pilgrims. They put up idols, often practiced their rituals around the entire town. The community Muhammad was born into was exiled and known as nomads who lived off of camels and had intense societal rules like fear of vengeance. Mecca was ran basically by and elite family and the society was focused on social rank, money, slaves and oppression.
  • Muhammads early life

    Muhammad was orphaned early in his life and lived the majority of his life in mecca, until he was 52. When he was 25 he married his first wife, a 40 year old rich widow. Muhmammad worked a as trustworthy and well known merchant.
  • Struggles in mecca

    Mecca was ran unjustly promoting elitism, greed and polytheism. Muhammad did not believe in these things and began to preach about monotheism and equality.
    He began preaching the enlightenment he received and had to flee mecca after a planned assassination against him.
  • Hijra: Return to Mecca

    Muhammad convinced the mecca people to let him and his followers back in to mecca so they could start the pilgrimage to Ka'ab. When his followers and him came back into mecca they were impressed by their self control, their strength and peaceful departure after their agreed time was up. The following year the Meccans broke their agreement and didn't allow the back in the city again to make the trip despite the good behavior of his followers This lead them to take mecca without resistance.
