    The man was the “boss” of the family. He managed all the money and the wife had no say in what any of the money was spent on or used for. The man made all of the decisions in the house and had all the control he wanted over his children until he died or he, in a formal manner, released them from his owning of them.     The families of the children would already start to make arrangements for who they are going to marry when the child is only 2-3 years old. The bride’s family would give money to the groom which is called a dowrie. The families would pick who their children are going to marry very carefully.     Dante wrote a poem that was titled Divine Comedy. It was about a person’s soul and their travels through salvation. In this poem he is taking the person’s soul on an imaginary trip through Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven. Heaven is prioritized as heaven. Dante is from Italy. It is known to be one of the greatest literature writings in the world.

    Frescoes by Masaccio is the first type of art work of the early Renaissance. This type of painting is done on a new, clean, wet plaster and would be painted with water-based paints. The medieval painting would look flat but Masaccio found a way to have the paintings of humans look realistic and have depth. He created a new aspect on paintings. He created a realistic style. That is when we started to see Frescoes paintings pop up. Page 173

    Donatello was a great sculptor and was known to be the greatest sculptor of all time before Michelangelo. He was the most influential artist in the 15th century. He sculpted the “Gothic style.” His sculptings were very emotional and really touched your heart when you looked at them. He sculpted a life-sized sculpture of David.     Chaucer wrote a bunch of stories called The canterbury Tales. These stories were told by 29 different pilgrims that were going to the tomb of St. Thomas Beckett in Canterbury, England. They were going to the tomb because St. Thomas Beckett was the archbishop of Canterbury. He died because he was murdered by the followers of King Henry II.     The inventor of the Armored Car was Leonardo da Vinci. In the 1480s he was continuously making up designs that would protect the people in a car. He wanted to make a safe and helpful design to assure the Duke of Milan that none of his soldiers would get hurt on the battlefield.     Galileo was the claimed inventor of the Thermometer. The thermometer allows the temperature ranges to be measured. He was claimed to the inventor of the thermometer, but it couldn't be called a thermometer because his invention didn't measure temperature differences.
